That Thy Foot Slippeth Not

After slipping on some ice, shattering my ankle, and finding myself bed-bound for 6 weeks, I have been giving some thought to some related ideas.

I have "slipped up" and "fallen" many times. Some times were even bad enough to leave more than a bruise, but rather a break.
Now, with each careful step, I am focused to ensure balance. I am mindful of all possible threats to my safety. These precautions are born, not only of my fear of falling again, and my desire to avoid further pain, but of my desire to make it safely to my desired destination.

David said:
Psalms 17
4 Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.
5 Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.
6 I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.
7 Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness. O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.

I take strength from these words. It is by obeying the words of the Lord, I can be saved from taking paths directed by Satan, whose purpose and desire is to destroy me. He would keep me from the pathways fo the Lord, and have me slip up.
I have promises that the Lord will hear me and answer my prayers with His tender mercies. He will protect me from all foes of righteousness.

Now is the task of learning the words of the Lord so I can obey them. I must search to know his will, and then assess my own thoughts and actions to see what is not in alignment with them.
I must also keep a prayer in my heart, and pour out my soul being drawn out in mighty prayer for His blessing.
